1. Month and global settings

Slots per weekday (min–max people on duty). Min gap and extra-weekend are now set per batch/person; extras are added automatically when short.

2. Batches and doctors for the month (click a batch to open and change individual people)

Each batch row holds the defaults. Open a batch to see its doctors; every cell defaults to “batch default” — change only the people who differ. “any (free)” on any dropdown = no preference, chosen freely.

3. Duty assistants (DAP) (one per day, shown at the top of each day)

Set a target duties/month (optional) and tick the days each assistant covers — specific weekdays (e.g. only Wed), odd/even dates, and ≤1 or no Saturday/Sunday. Options combine. The solver puts exactly one available DAP per day, honours the limits, and aims for each target.

4. Previous month — last 2 days (so no one does duty across the month break)

PICU / NICU postings (named only — removed from the duty roster this month)

Pick doctors from the main list who are posted to PICU or NICU this month. They are taken out of the duty pool (no duties assigned) and shown as a separate list on the roster.

5. Monthly special instructions (this month only)

6. Carry-over / compensation (evens out extra weekend duty across months)
